Ultrasonic Level Measurement for Tanks and Vessels

Reliable, non-contact level monitoring for chemical, petroleum, food, pharmaceutical and building fire-protection applications.

ATHENA ultrasonic level sensors provide stable, non-contact measurement for tanks, vessels and open water applications. They measure liquid height, support volume calculation and track level trends accurately.

The sensors handle fresh water, seawater, wastewater, corrosive liquids, oils and slurries containing suspended solids. Measurement is not affected by liquid color, transparency or dielectric constant.

Applications include storage tanks, ponds, channels, sedimentation basins and reactors in the chemical, petroleum, food and beverage, water-treatment, agricultural, pharmaceutical and building-safety industries.

Industries and Applications

  • Chemical processing: acid, alkali, solvent and reactor tanks
  • Petroleum and energy: fuel, lubricant and hydraulic-oil inventory
  • Food and beverage: raw-material, clean-water, mixing and fermentation tanks
  • Water and environmental treatment: wastewater, chemical and rainwater tanks
  • Agriculture: fertilizer, pesticide, irrigation and slurry tanks
  • Pharmaceuticals: purified-water, formulation and bioreactor process control
  • Coatings and inks: solvent and ink consumption monitoring
  • Buildings and fire protection: fire-water pools, roof tanks and reclaimed-water systems

Chemical Storage Tank Monitoring

Accurate tank-level measurement is a primary safeguard in chemical production. Mounted above the tank, ATHENA sensors measure strong acids, alkalis and solvents without contacting corrosive media, avoiding corrosion, scaling and failure common to contact sensors.

Fast, stable output supports 4–20 mA, RS-485 and Modbus and connects directly to PLC, DCS or SCADA systems. Centralized monitoring and alarms reduce overflow and material-shortage risks.

Food and Beverage Material Management

ATHENA sensors support hygienic level control for wort, yeast, syrup, clean-water and mixing tanks. Non-contact measurement prevents secondary contamination and eliminates wetted dead zones.

Integration with ERP or MES systems allows level data to support production planning, consumption calculation and replenishment timing, reducing waste and excess inventory.

Agricultural Reservoir Management

For remote agricultural reservoirs, ATHENA solutions support solar power and LoRa communication, transmitting level data without extensive field wiring.

Farmers can monitor water levels remotely and combine the data with weather and crop-demand models. Low-level alarms protect pumps from dry running, while robust weather resistance reduces inspection and maintenance costs.
